DELHI: The Film and Television Producers Guild of India is to set up an India
Pavilion during the American Film Market later this year. The
AFM, a prestigious event for film industries of the world, is slated to be held
between October 31 to November 7 at Santa Monica in Los Angeles.
The Guild is
setting up the pavilion in association with USIBA (US India Business Alliance).
A spokesman
of the Guild told Indiantelevision.com that the growth of US-India trade and investment,
though substantial, is very small in comparison to US-China trade. USIBA draws
its strength from the Indian American community which has been a strong catalyst
for the growth of small and medium sized businesses in the US. The
Guild already has an Memorandum of Understanding with the USIBA since 2005. Although
the plans for the pavilion are at an initial stage, it is expected that such an
initiative will prove to be a great boon for participating Guild member companies
and others from the Indian entertainment fraternity. Plans
include panel discussions inside the pavilion featuring speakers from Hollywood
and India; networking and matchmaking opportunities and reception with American
entertainment companies; and screenings. |
