HBO leads with 86 Emmy nominations

MUMBAI: HBO has received 86 primetime Emmy nominations, the most of any network for the seventh year in a row, for the upcoming 59th Annual Primetime Emmy Awards. The show takes place on 16 September.

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee led all nominees with 17 nominations, while The Sopranos led all series with 15 nominations. In addition, Entourage and Rome received seven nominations each. Deadwood and When the Levees Broke: A Requiem in Four Acts received six nominations each.

Competing for best comedy series are Entourage, The Office, 30 Rock, Two And A Half Men and Ugly Betty. For best drama the nominees are Boston Legal, Grey's Anatomy, Heroes, House and The Sopranos.

For best TV movie the contenders are Bury My Heart At Wounded Knee, Inside The Twin Towers, Longford, The Ron Clark Story, and Why I Wore Lipstick To My Mastectomy. For best reality show the nominees are The Amazing Race, American Idol, Dancing With The Stars, Project Runway and Top Chef.

For variety shows the nominees are The Colbert Report, The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, Late Night With Conan O'Brien, Late Show With David Letterman and Real Time With Bill Maher. For special class programme the nominees are 79th Annual Academy Awards, The 64th Golden Globe Awards, Jerry Seinfeld - The Comedy Award, Prince Super Bowl XLI Halftime Show and The 60th Annual Tony Awards.
