| MUMBAI:
It's raining reality shows on Indian television. If the Hindi GECs are running
a high dose of it, the bet is now being taken by a movie channel.
Filmy,
from the Sahara stable, has announced the launch of its first
reality show, Bathroom Singer.
The
show is a hunt for an untrained singer who can capture the hearts of masses with
the combination of singing and the entertainment quotient or `Jhaag.' "It's
a reality singing show with a difference," says Filmy content and marketing
head Shailesh Kapoor.
The
reality show will start with ground auditions in the four
cities of Ahmedabad, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai on 24 July,
28 July, 1 August and 5 August respectively.
Produced
by Optimystix, the show is scheduled to hit the channel in
the last week of August.
So
how is Bathroom Singer different from the other musical talent hunt shows
run on the other channels?
Says
Kapoor, "We have no upper limit for the contestants. Anybody who is above
18 and thinks he/she can sing can come and participate in Bathroom Singer.
We will not stress on the classically trained voice or a youth icon as the name
of the show goes. But we will definitely look for a good singer."
Ravi
Kishan, who got associated with the channel by playing the
role of a movie jockey during the screening of Ganga,
will judge the show along with Shibani Kashyap, the singer.
The show has roped in Gaurav Gera as the anchor.
While
Kashyap will focus on the singing aspect of the contestant, Kishan will figure
out the entertainment quotient.
The
final winner, who will walk away with the cash prize of 2.5
million, will be decided by a combination of Jury and viewer
voting via SMS.
