MUMBAI: Discovery Travel and Living (DTL) will kick off a reality show A Model Life With Petra Nemcova on 4 January 2008. It will air every Friday at 8 pm and on Saturday at 1 pm.

The show chronicles the real story of what it takes to be a model in New York City, without staged eliminations or contrived challenges. Six new models are brought to the biggest stage in modeling and viewers follow them from their first test shoot to the runways of New York Fashion Week.

Nemcova serves as a mentor and friend to the prospective models, as they learn the trade of modeling and the business of fashion. Using her own life experiences, Petra advises the models on how to succeed as a model and underscores the importance of having a well-rounded life.

Over the span of several weeks, the six girls live through the harsh business of modeling ranging from finicky photographers and clothing designers to contradicting advice on weight and body image from bookers and nutritionists.

Nemcova said, "I was thrilled to share my experiences with these six young women. The New York modeling scene is extremely competitive and it's important that they learn about life off the runway. It takes both inner and outer beauty to make it on the world's largest stage. A Model Life With Petra Nemcova documents every step of the process and showcases the real behind-the-scenes work that goes into a modeling career."

Throughout the process, Next Modeling evaluates the potential of these fresh faces and ultimately determines how many of the models deserve a contract with the agency at the end of the series.

The potential models are from across the globe and were handpicked by Petra and Joel Wilkenfeld, co-president of NEXT Modeling. The young models selected include Abigail from the UK; Angelika from Malibu, California; Beatrice from Brazil; Lucia from Slovakia; Michelle from Center Hill, Florida and Valeria from Australia. While all six girls began the process with varying degrees of professional modeling experience, the show documents their first experiences on the New York modeling scene.

To help them transition to the fast-paced lifestyle and garner the professionalism needed to work in the fashion industry, Tammy Francis and Stephen Lee are their 'New Face' Agents at Next Modeling. Tammy and Stephen work with each model to maximise their potential, which sometimes requires tough criticism ranging from how to interact with photographers to what physical traits need work.

The show's executive producer Dave Broome says, "This is a series about hopes, dreams and aspirations and overcoming the real life obstacles of the modeling industry. I'm excited to show the audience the true competitiveness and often gritty side of becoming successful in this industry".
