MUMBAI: Indian start-up company Synage Software has launched 'DeskAway', a software as a service (Saas) initiative that provides users a central location on the web to create, manage and track company projects.

Synage president Sahil Parekh said, "Companies can use the service straight from the web-browser without having the need to install or configure them. DeskAway is for a team working together on a project who want to collaborate with each other. This could be small to medium businesses, organizations, or group within large enterprises. It can help them manage and track their projects from one central location and keep it more up-to-date."

The service offers a simple-easy to use interface with menus like dashboard, projects, contacts, calendar, blog, reports, tasks, files and documents. Targetted at small-to-midsize firms using IT processes for managing their projects, DeskAway is currently being offered on a subscription based model beginning with a 30-day free trial.

"DeskAway can help increases efficiency, save time, and create a system driven method of working. It enables the clients to tap into the system through a secure login to see the progress of their projects," he said.

According to Parekh, after launching in July this year, about 120 users are presently using the service. "Our current kitty of clients includes Parksons Games and Sports, CNBC TV-18, Essel Group, SHRMI, Pali Hill Hotels. The response has been very positive and we are updating new features as per the the company's requirements including their logo on the user interface," he says.

In the US, companies are already using similar models to DeskAway, which include E-Projects, Basecamp amongst others.
