MUMBAI:
Sony's dedicated movie channel, Pix will air the best films
selected from its Short Film Festival held last month. Currently,
the channel is in the process of sorting through the films
and selecting those which will air on the channel.
The
results will be posted on the Pix website, www.pixtelevision.com.
Results are expected to be announced by end of August, informs
an official release.
Over
800 entries were recieved
from Indian filmmakers in every genre including comedy, drama,
horror and thrillers.
"The
films explore diverse themes and reveal a huge hidden talent
in the country. Infact, PSFF has been such a successful initiative
that we are already making plans for next year," said
Pix business head Sunder Aaron.
Short
film making is growing in popularity among amateurs and enthusiasts,
who are taking advantage of affordable equipment and the proliferation
of websites that, carry the works. However, aside from being
shown on the Internet and at short film festivals, today's
smart eclectic short films do not have many mass media avenues
to be screened. With this initiative Pix is hoping to change
that.
