MUMBAI: National Geographic Channels International (NGCI)
will launch a channel Nat Geo Adventure on 1 May 2007.
Nat Geo Adventure will be available in more than 40 countries
around the world including Italy, Singapore, Hong Kong, Indonesia,
Thailand, the Philippines, Australia, Israel, Africa and the
Middle East. The channel will also appear in block format
in Spain, Portugal and Latin America.
Nat Geo Adventure programmes will look to infuse a fresh
feel into adventure and exploration signature themes
of National Geographic. Nat Geo Adventure engages young backpackers
and travellers craving edgy content that mirrors their own
curious and fearless nature.
NGCI CEO David Haslingden says, Nat Geo Adventure captures
the attention of a younger audience eager to stretch the boundaries
of their knowledge about the world and their own limitations.
The channel offers another platform for NGCI to provide
high quality programming that captures the spirit of adventure
and exploration that is at the core of the National Geographic
brand.
Whether viewers want to feel the rush of surfing a 20-foot wave
or find inspiration from an unpredictable road trip, Nat Geo
Adventure will look to tell stories with impact. It sees itself
as being more than just a travel channel. It will chronicle
people whose life-changing travel experiences have transformed
how they see the world and themselves.
Nat Geo Adventure will aim to balance localised content with
overarching story lines. The channels first original
commission to premiere is the ten-part series Chasing Che.
This chronicles the journey of two young Latin Americans as
they retrace the route that Ernesto Che Guevara
took through South America in his book The Motorcycle Diaries.
