MUMBAI: Radio Mirchi celebrated its fifth birthday across
the Mumbai city. As part of their celebrations, Rakhi Sawant,
dressed as Super Girl, was spotted in a Radio Mirchi van handing
out Mirchi Cakes to surprised Mumbaites. The celebrations
started across many restaurants, pubs, multiplexes, ice cream
parlours and coffee chain like Baskin Robbins and café
coffee day to the sound of a jingle. There were mirchi
shaped cakes being given out to surprised people in restaurants,
free drinks in the bars, free popcorns in the multiplexes.
It was Radio Mirchi's way to reach out and thank its listeners
on its fifth birthday.
Speaking on the occasion of Radio Mirchi's fifth birthday, Radio
Mirchi, Mumbai station head Sujata Bhatt commented, "As
a Brand We stand for fun, and for our fifth Birthday we wanted
to share our Joy with Mumbaites who have made us the consistent
number one Radio station. Ever since its launch on 23 April
2002, Radio Mirchi has been one of the most innovative media
companies in India and has consistently raised the bar of successful
programming. The various awards and recognitions conferred on
Radio Mirchi are a testament to this."
Since its inception, Radio Mirchi has gone from strength
to strength and Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM is not only the numero
uno station in Mumbai but has 40 percent higher listenership
as compared to its nearest competitor Radio City as per the
India Listenership Track: Wave 3, 2006. The ILT is widely
considered as the most authentic source for Radio listenership
statistics.
ENIL launched its first radio station in the city of Indore
in October 2001 and after that by May 2003 ENIL launched six
other stations. At present Radio Mirchi is operational in
12 cities which are Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata Chennai , Indore,
Ahmedabad, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore, Jaipur and now Patna
and Jalandhar. Shortly, the station will be operational in
20 more cities and in total have 32 radio stations in the
country.
