MUMBAI: The History Channel (THC) will focus on music in
a big way next month.
It will air the programme History Rocks. This looks
at icons of the rock music genre.
THC VP marketing Rajesh Sheshadri says that the likes of Bob
Dylan, Rolling Stones, the Beatles will be featured. There will
be a mix of classic concert footage and rockumentaries looking
at their careers and what made them special.
In terms of marketing activities the channel is looking at
organising concerts where local bands will play cover versions.
It is also looking to tie up with music stores.
In terms of shows it will kick off Jewel In The Crown
in the next two months. The series is set during the time
of the British Raj and looks at thoughtful English men and
women know that their time in India is coming to an end. The
story begins with an unjust arrest for rape, and the consequences
of this echo through the series. Questions of identity and
personal responsibility are explored against a background
of war and personal intrigue.
It will also air Reilly with Sam Neill. This is a
dramatisation of the missions and adventures of the greatest
spy in British history Sidney Reilly.
