Idea IIFA Award's nominations announced

MUMBAI: The nominations for the Idea IIFA awards, Yorkshire were announced and released worldwide this evening by the IIFA brand ambassador Amitabh Bachchan.

It was also announced that the voting for the Idea IIFA awards would be open to audiences of Indian Cinema all across the world. The Idea IIFA award would be held at the Hallam FM Arena, Sheffield, Yorkshire as a highlight of the IIFA weekend. The IIFA weekend is conceptualized and promoted across the world by Wizcraft International Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.

The announcement was done as a result of the industry voting for the Idea IIFA awards in February. Results of the industry voting were audited by Pricewatehouse Coopers, the auditing firm for the IIFAs and Oscars. The voting by fans and supporters of Indian Cinema is now open on www.msn.com and www.indya.com, beginning today (3 April) and continues till the end of May. The results of the online voting will determine the winner of the award.

IIFA continues its association with Idea Cellular Pvt Limited, the cellular provider. Speaking on the association with IIFA, Idea Cellular MD Sanjeev Aga said, "Idea IIFA awards offers us the best platform to demonstrate the true essence of mobile and entertainment convergence. Another announcement at the conference was that of the Idea IIFA star ki talaash. IIFA and Idea cellular are looking for two very special Indian fans who will be given the opportunity to become a star at the IIFA weekend in Yorkshire. These lucky fans would be chosen through a reality show on Star TV.

The press conference also reiterated the announcement of the IIFA bond for global cool, launched at Madame Tussads in London. It is a pertinent issue on global climatic change across the world and this issue will be addressed through IIFA global campaign during IIFA weekend this year.

Speaking on the occasion Mr Bachchan said, "Global Cool and IIFA are using credible global platform to address the issue of global warming. Taking this endeavor to make people aware that climate can change reality and we have the power to preserve our planet. It's not just about award function but about India and it's high profile and hugely popular film industry focusing the world and India's attention on climate change."

IIFA continues it's association with Star TV, the worldwide broadcast partner for IIFA awards in Yorkshire. Star India EVP Ajay Vidyasagar said, "We are delighted to again come together with IIFA to bring you the IIFA weekend on Star TV. We look forward to bringing all our viewers excellent programming before the weekend and above all star studded Idea IIFA awards in June."

The IIFA weekend will be from 7–10 June in Yorkshire. The venue will host the stars of Indian Cinema, government office bearers, corporate heads and several Indian Film fans from all across the world.
