MUMBAI: MTV Networks International executive Bhavneet Singh
has been promoted to Senior Vice President and Managing Director
of MTVNI's Emerging Markets group. The appointment was announced
by MTVNI chief operating officer Alex Ferrari.
In his new role, Singh will be responsible for all aspects
of MTVNI's business across its portfolio of music, kids and
comedy brands in Eastern Europe and Middle East. He will also
be tasked with developing MTVNI's portfolio of channels in
key countries across emerging markets, as well as launching
mobile and online digital platforms. Emerging Markets is one
of MTVNI's fastest growing businesses.
Since joining MTVNI's Emerging Markets group as deputy general
manager early in 2006, Singh has overseen the launch of MTV
Turkey and Comedy Central in Poland. He is currently in the
process of launching further channels, including MTV Arabiya.
MTVNI's Emerging Markets team currently operate 17 channels
across the MTV, Nickelodeon and Comedy Central brands.
Ferrari said: "I have known Bhavneet since he first
joined the company and I have no doubt that his strategic
and commercial background makes him the right person to take
MTVNI's Emerging Markets business to the next level in its
development."
Singh served earlier as director, international sales strategy,
for the corporate strategy group within MTVNI, working on
strategic international projects. The new role will continue
to be based in London and will report directly to Ferrari.
Singh has been with the company since 2004. Prior to MTV
Networks, he worked as a consultant to Manchester United PLC,
as General Manager at IMG TWI in India and as director of
ad sales for the Discovery Channel in Asia. Singh holds an
MBA from Manchester Business School.
