MUMBAI: Television format owner and distributor Fremantlemedia has announced that Star TV has renewed the Asia rights for the show Falcon Beach. In India the show airs on Star World.

The show tells the story of the lives and loves of the waterfront beach town’s young men and women, their relationships and romances ensuring a summer to remember. There is glamour, tension and conflict among the wealthy summer cottagers and the townies.

They find themselves divided when a major waterfront development threatens to tear lives and loves apart and deprive holidaymakers and townsfolk alike of the golden beach they have enjoyed for decades.

The second season also sees the cast joined by a daredevil rich girl and a young lawyer on the make, as the responsibilities and temptations of the adult world become ever more pressing. Amidst the intrigue and betrayal, there is a killing and a major character must deal with what he has done.

FremantleMedia Enterprises CEO David Ellender said, “Now a year on, the global reach of Falcon Beach continues to grow and impress. Its high production values, talented cast and sophisticated scripting have combined to enable us to make it an unparalleled worldwide success in terms of drama programming. Moving forward we hope to duplicate the success of Falcon Beach with other key dramas within our catalogue.”

The other broadcasters who have picked up the show are Onmedia (Korea) and VTV (Vietnam), European broadcasters RTL TVI (French speaking Belgium), Cosmopolitan TV (Spain and Andorra – Pay), TV Plus (Poland), Slovak TV (Slovakia), UMDB (Ukraine) and Sigma (Cyprus). In addition, MBC, Middle East and Corporacion TV, Venezuela join the other major markets already on board.
