Radio Mirchi gets Preity Zinta as RJ to present the 'Salaam Namaste' music

MUMBAI: 98.3 FM Radio Mirchi will have a new voice to woo its listeners from 5 September to 9 September. The Salaam Namaste heroine Preity Zinta will present the film's music, which is exclusively available on Radio Mirchi.

The leading star of Salaam Namaste's will be a part of the Radio Mirchi team across all the six stations of the radio channel in Ahmedabad, Delhi, Indore, Kolkata, Mumbai and Pune, informs a media release.

Preitys character in the film is that of an RJ on an Australian radio station (called Salaam Namaste). Taking reel life into real life, Preity is set to bring her film role to Radio Mirchi by co-hosting the breakfast shows across the six stations.

The high point of Preitys show will be a Salaam Namaste contest exclusively in Mumbai, to win a special trip to Melbourne, Australia. The self proclaimed Salaam Namaste couples can call up Radio Mirchi in Mumbai for details.

Radio Mirchi vice-president marketing and international operations Kaushik Ghosh said that this was perhaps the first time any film had used radio so extensively for promotion across major cities.

He added that such tie-ups were another way of providing engaging content for Radio Mirchi listeners. Film makers choose to come on Radio Mirchi to promote their films because we invest in promoting the film heavily; in addition, we have a pan Indian coverage that no other private radio station can offer. Most radio stations play the same music and this is a big content differentiator for us and our listeners. he added.
