AETN Intl to distribute Kim Cattrall sexual doc in Cannes

CANNES: AETN International, a division of A&E Television Networks, has acquired international distribution rights to the feature-length documentary, KIM Cattrall: Sexual Intelligence.

Sales of the documentary will launch at Mipcom 2005 which kicks of today 17 October 2005 in Cannes, France.

Hosted and executive produced by actress Kim Cattrall Sex and the City the documentary is the first project from Fertile Ground Productions (FGP), Cattrall’s production company.

Produced in high-definition, the documentary is available in both an 85 minute and a 52 minute version. The documentary explores the mysterious logic of sexual desire with an actress who has famously broadened our notions of modern sexuality, making us laugh all the while. In a whirlwind tour of sites significant to the expression of human sexuality, Kim probes the subtle magic of eroticism, where nature and culture collide. Viewers also hear from contemporary thinkers and sexual adventurers, who bridge the ancient to the modern and shine a light on the recurring, yet often confounding dynamics of sexual attraction and satisfaction.

The companion book to the documentary, entitled Kim Cattrall Sexual Intelligence, is being released internationally in 15 countries, including the U.K., France, Germany, Australia, and Russia.

Cattrall says, “Sexual Intelligence was shot in five different countries -- the subject is universal and enduring. I am hopeful for the programme to reach a broad international audience. We are all sexual creatures” .

AETN Intl VP, programming and production Michael Katz says, “The documentary is a smart, entertaining and provocative production and I am confident it will appeal to the international broadcast community. This marks the first programme acquired by AETN International solely for international syndicated sales. Earlier this year, we launched a format sales arm, and as we continue to grow our syndicated distribution business, our strategy calls for ramping up our acquisition efforts.”

The documentary was previously licensed in the US to HBO, in the UK to Channel 4, in Canada to Discovery Canada and in Israel to Hop TV.

Among the featured experts in the documentary are psychologist, theologian and best selling author Thomas Moore The Soul of Sex, ground breaking sexologist, sex coach, author and artist Betty Dodson Viva La Vulva, leading clinical psychologist and educator Dr. Micahel J. Bader Arousal and popular author and social observer, Maggie Paley The Book of the Penis.
