NEW DELHI: Zee Telefilms, India's largest media and entertainment conglomerate celebrates 10 years of Sa Re Ga Ma Pa with the launch of what it dubs the big daddy of all music competitions, Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005.

Beginning 30 June, the star-studded series will showcase the onscreen rivalry between India's leading music directors, Adesh Shrivastav (Baghban, Dev), Himesh Reshammiya (Tere Naam, Humraaz), Ismail Darbar (Devdas, Kisna) and Jatin Lalit (Hum Tum, Chalte Chalte).

Speaking on the launch of the series yesterday at a press conference here, Zee TV business head Abhijit Saxena, said, "Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 is a platform that showcases the biggest names in the music industry who have delivered majority of the musical blockbusters this year. The series promises to enthrall the audiences with its unique format."

Pointing out that there have been international enquiries on the format of Sa re Ga Ma Pa, he added, "In the past Sa Re Ga Ma Pa has gifted the music fraternity talented artists such as Kunal Ganjawala, Shreya Ghoshal and Sanjeevani. The Challenge 2005 is a step further in this direction."

Hero Honda Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2005 is a musical reality show that extends beyond just the participants. It is a contest between four musical maestros! 48 contestants selected from across 13 cities that compete with each other under the guidance of the four mentors. The mentors enter the battlefield armed with their respective teams in the quest to find the deserving winners.

The winners, a boy and a girl, get a music contract with a leading music company and a chance to sing for a Zee Telefilms movie. Further, Zee will manage their careers too.
