MUMBAI: Pakistan prime minister Shaukat Aziz announced that the
government would launch four new channels in provincial languages
on 14 August. According to Aziz, a sports and a youth channel are
also on the cards.
The prime minister also said Media City in Islamabad would be inaugurated
by the end of next month. The Media Centre, equipped with the latest
communication facilities, will occupy leading news agencies, radio,
TV and advertising agencies.
Speaking on the performance of Pakistan's national broadcaster
PTV, Aziz said the earning from advertisements -- the major source
of income of the PTV -- has increased.
