US TV critics honour 'Desperate Housewives', 'Lost'

MUMBAI: US television critics honoured the top ABC shows Desperate Housewives and Lost with two top awards.

While the former was named program of the year on Saturday night (23 July) by the Television Critics Association at its annual summer gathering, the latter claimed two TCA trophies, outstanding new program and outstanding achievement in drama.

Both shows debuted last fall had helped ABC to plot a turnaround from a three-year ratings slump. The shows went on to win maximum nominations for the 57th annual Primetime Emmy Awards.

Desperate Housewives clinched 15 nominations to tie veteran sitcom Will & Grace as the most Emmy-recognized series this year. Lost, in its turn, became the most Emmy-nominated drama series this year.
