Shemaroo releases 'Yakeen' two weeks after theatrical debut

MUMBAI: Shemaroo Video has released the DVD and VCD of the Priyanka Chopra-Arjun Rampal starrer Yakeen two weeks after it was released in cinemas.

The aim is to do damage control caused by the piracy racket.

Yakeen is a suspense-thriller about the life of a young business tycoon that takes a turn when he partially loses his memory in an accident. The Yakeen DVD is priced at Rs. 349/- and VCD at Rs. 149/-.

Shemaroo states that a huge piracy racket came to light when the pirated copies of the Priyanka Chopra- Arjun Rampal starrer Yakeen were circulated a week before the movie's theatrical release, the film industry, government and media have woken up to the destructive powers of video piracy and its lasting effects on the Indian film industry. This is a menace against which Shemaroo and other video companies have been fighting a fast-losing battle, unless the Government decides to intervene.

Video piracy has been increasing at an alarming rate in India. Incidents like the Yakeen are one-off that bring to light the organised racket behind the crime. Shemaroo states that it has been striving relentlessly to spread the message about the piracy menace and also conducts vigilance activities through its very own anti-piracy cell.

In addition to Yakeen, Shemaroo has also released the DVDs and VCDs of Govinda and Preeti Jhangiani starrer Ssukh which had hit theatres a couple of weeks back. Ssukh is about the complications created in the life of a simple man who tries to help a friend in need and in turn gets drawn into the quest for money.
