Fremantle Home Entertainment inks US film distribution deal

MUMBAI: Fremantle Home Entertainment (FHE) announced a sales and distribution agreement in the US and Canada with full service home entertainment distribution company Direct Source Special Products Inc.



The deal will see Direct Source Special Products distribute FHE's library of over 140 films in a range of single and multi-disc sets with the first releases slated to begin in the fourth quarter of 2005.



Titles include All the Winters That Have Been starring Richard Chamberlain, Appointment For a Killing starring Kelsey Grammer, Blood On Her Hands starring Susan Lucci, Dead Before Dawn starring Cheryl Ladd, The Entertainers starring Bob Newhart, A Holiday Romance starring Naomi Judd and Andy Griffith and The Jayne Mansfield Story starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Loni Anderson.

A large portion of the library is also available in alternate languages with 105 French tracks and 81 Spanish tracks tapped for distribution.

FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide Home Entertainment and Archive Sales senior vice president Pete Kalhan said, "Direct Source Special Products is a strong marketer with varied distribution routes into retail channels. Direct Source Special Products vice president - product development Dan Shannon said, "We are very excited about distributing this catalogue. Overall, the films play straight into the most popular genres for DVD sell-through and the FremantleMedia brand will also provide additional lift to the line given the success presently being enjoyed by the Idols brand both in the US and Canada."
