MUMBAI: Production staff of pubcaster Prasar Bharti
have threatened to halt work across the country from 13 November if
the government did not allow promotion of programme executives to
the production cadre.
The associations are up in arms against the ministry's
"foot dragging" over an order issued in March by the Central
Administrative Tribunal to undertake a Department Promotion Committee
(DPC) review and consider programme executives for promotion to production
posts.
"The immediate cause for this agitation is the
attempt by the (information & broadcasting) ministry to thwart
and delay this review (by the DPC) which is required to be completed
by November 12," the Press Trust of India quoted a number of
staff associations within Prasar Bharati as stating.
