An Indo-Asian News Service report says the office-goer Manas Haldar
returned home in the Cossipore area of Kolkata on 16 January and
was enraged to find his his 19-year-old daughter Rituparna glued
to the TV.
Haldar lambasted Rituparna for neglecting her studies and being
constantly in front of the TV, but his wife Chameli intervened and
asked him to go easy on trhe girl.
This enraged the 56-year-old man even further and in a fit of pique,
he poured kerosene and set himself on fire. His wife's attempts
to douse the flames resulted in here also getting consumed by the
blaze. Both husband and wife succumbed to their injuries on Wednesday.
