-' thrilling' performance in Bhoot gets her the Best
Actress Award |
Urmila Matondkar walked away with the honours as best actress for
her riveting performance in the thriller Bhoot, while Saif
Ali Khan's act in Kal Ho Naa Ho got him the best actor in
a supporting role award.
Shabana Azmi's performance in Tehzeeb fetched her the best
actress in a supporting role award. Veteran producer Yash Johar
was conferred the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Shaan walked away with the best male singer award for his Suno
Na number from Jhankaar Beats, while the title track of
Kal Ho Naa Ho made it to the best song of the year award. Rahul
Dev's performance in Footpath got him the best performance
in a villainous role award, while Sadhana Sargam won the best female
singer award for the title track of Kucch Naa Kaho. Amrita
Pritam's verse, Charkha Chalati Maa won the award for the
best lyrics. Pritam's story for Pinjar also won the award
for Best Story. Pinjar also won Muneesh Sappel the Best Costume
Designer award and the Best Art Direction award. Tigmanshu Dhulia's
screenplay for Haasil won him the best Screenplay award,
while Allan Amin's fight sequences for Qayamat fetched him
the Best Action Award. Vicky Goswami won the Best Background Score
award for Tere Naam.

Among the new stars on the horizon who were feted, were Bhumika
Chawla who was adjudged the best female newcomer in the industry
and Shahid Kapoor who was adjudged the best male newcomer. Rajkumar
Hirani won similar kudos as the best upcoming director for his feature
film Munnabhai MBBS.
Among the technical awards, Ganesh Hegde got the best choreography
award for Koi...Mil Gaya, Abba Tyrewala got the best dialogue
award for Munnabhai MBBS, while Binod Pradhan got the best
cinematography award for Munnabhai again. Kuldeep Sood won
in the re-recording category for Baghban, while Digital Art
Media got the Special Effects award for Koi....Mil Gaya.
Dwarak Warrier won the Audiography award for Bhoot, while
Shimit Amin's editing won him the award for Bhoot.
