BANGALORE: The 30th annual Akashwani awards ceremony was held at
Ambedkar Bhavan, Bangalore on 30 December. Showing respect to the
Tsunami victims, the event was held as a low key affair.
Speaking on the occasion, Prasar Bharati chairman M V Kamath opined
that no technological revolution could eliminate the role of radio
and that DD had the potential to be the trendsetter in the world
of television.
Among the dignitaries present were AIR director general (DG) Brijeshwar
Singh, Doordarshan DG Navin Kumar and sitar maestro Ravi Shankar.
