New clients that have signed up for Globecast’s Olympic facilities
include Sahara, Geo TV in Pakistan, CBS, Comedy Central’s The
Daily Show with John Stewart and Coca Cola Radio in the US;
Australia’s Channel 10 and Sky News Australia; Mexico’s TV Azteca,
Serbian BK TV; French channel Equidia and Dutch broadcaster NOS.
Under one roof, the Broadcast Base 2004 includes studios, work
space, playout, conversion, stand up and mobile SNG, in addition
to global satellite and fibre connectivity. This media centre for
non-rights holders in the heart of Athens, which is just 400 metres
from the Olympic Stadium, is offered in partnership with Greek Production
company Stefi Productions and UK-based equipment supplier Gearhouse
Broadcast.
Globecast is also now providing the Arabsat/ Arab States Broadcasting
Union (ASBU) bouquet of channels with encoding equipment, compression
and a satellite uplink services from Athens. Globecast is also supplying
Japanese broadcaster NHK with a short term lease on Hellasat.
