Parmeet Sethi nominated for best actor by the Israeli Film Academy

MUMBAI: Art knows no boundaries. Contrary to the rules of the academy which awards only Israeli talent, Parmeet Sethi (of Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin fame) has been nominated in the best actor category for Israeli Film Academy awards for his pivotal role in the Israeli film Sof Haolam Shmola (At the End of the World and Left).

Sethi's name has been recommended by the producer of the film Dudi Zilber.

The film deals with interactions between new immigrants from India and Morocco, placed in a development township. Sethi plays an Indian Jew who goes to Israel dreaming about a very rosy future but meets with lots of hardships, before he eventually settles down.

When contacted last evening, Sethi had just received the news and said he was thrilled to be a part of the nomination list. "I hope I get the award. I am keeping my fingers crossed."

Twenty-three films have entered the competition so far and some 700 members of the Academy will shortlist the nominations in 13 different categories for the 27 September award ceremony. In case of not being able to make it to the grand finale. "I can't say anything at the moment. My television and film assignments bind me here. Let's see how I am placed on D-day," Sethi added.

Currently, Sethi is doing Sony Entertainment Television's 'Jassi...', Sahara Manoranjan's Ruby Duby Hub Dub and films like the English-Punjabi bilingual Political Asylum (with Juhi Chawla and Gurdas Mann) and (late) Bunty Soorma's incomplete film Humko Tumse Pyaar Hai', which is now being completed by Vikram Bhatt.
