The
finalists were judged by a panel including DJ Nasha, two time winner
of the DMC India Championship; DJ Akbar Sami; Vishal Shetty promoter
of nightclub Fire & Ice; Arjun Sankalia, Sony Music’s head of
international repertoire and Jitin Abraham, radio jockey and specialist
in dance music.
The winner was declared on the basis of creativity, execution of
repertoire, technical abilities, flow of music and showmanship,
a company release states.
Besides the trophy, DJ Manish also won a Motorola E380 hand phone,
an all expenses paid trip to London, including a certain sum of
cash to go record shopping and clubbing.
He also won a trip to Singapore to showcase his talent at one of
the top five clubs in the region, Phuture in Zouk. The event in
Singapore will include the presence of the 'Best Breakthrough DJ'
at 2003 DanceStar Awards DJ Colette.
But for the ultimate competition for talented and aspiring DJs,
the MTV Motoalert DJ Challenge will seek out five DJs from five
countries - China, India, Korea, Taiwan and Thailand from September
to November 2003.
