An official release informs that the first annual News and Documentary
Emmy Awards For Business and Financial Reporting recognises achievements
in business and financial reporting by programs broadcast from 1
July 2002 to 30 June 2003. The awards will be presented on 4 December
at the Union Club in New York City.
Bloomberg's nominated series is Showdown on Secrecy, which
explored conflicts around disclosure issues in the mutual-funds
industry. Bloomberg claims to be dominating the crucial morning
hours among business news television networks in the US. The broadcaster
recently announced that it was now the number one business television
network in the US from 5-8 am, with its average audience up 31 per
cent in the last year, quoting Nielsen ratings.
Bloomberg has more than 1,600 reporters and editors in 94 news
bureaus around the world, including London, New York, Tokyo, Sydney,
Singapore and Hong Kong. Bloomberg also claims to have access to
cameras in over 200 banks and financial institutions worldwide,
giving its viewers direct access to market-shaping events as they
happen. It broadcasts 10 networks in seven languages and claims
to reach over 200 million homes worldwide.
