'Kahani Terrii Merrii' to make way for 'Naam Gum Jayega'

MUMBAI: Guess it is official now. Speculations about Sony's Kahani Terrii Merrii, winding sooner than expected, have proved true. Starting 19 May at 9:30 PM, the Devdas on television will be replaced by a new entrant Naam Gum Jayega.

Touted as Balaji creative inspiration Ektaa Kapoor's dream project, KTM commenced on screen on 20 January in the 9:30 pm slot. According to the basic premise of the story, this largest ever-family drama made for Indian television was to showcase three generations of a family a la Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi. Initial buzz apart, the daily failed to tug at audience's heartstrings. The show that will bid its good byes on 15 May, had recently introduced a love triangle, and a possibility of a quadrangle.

Coincidentally, Gauri Pradhan - who made her debut with Kutumb - stars in Naam Gum Jayega. It was KTM that had earlier replaced Kutumb. Also starring veterans such as Ashok Banthia and a couple of new artists, Naam..., is a family drama about switched identities that explores the influence of religion and culture on its two nodal characters - Priyanka and Zeenat.
