Zee to launch 'Vishwaas' and 'Urja' next week

MUMBAI: While its English entertainment arm has gone in for an image overhaul, flagship entertainment channel Zee TV has lined up some new shows that will debut in the first week of June.

Sucheta Khanna and Vijayendra Ghatge in Vishwaas

Starting 2 June (Monday), Zee will be sprucing its afternoon band with a brand new daily Vishwaas. According to an official release, it is a story of a girl Sai Pradhan, played by Sucheta Khanna, who after a chance encounter with 55-year-old millionaire Vishwanath Dixit, played by Vijayendra Ghatge, inherits a chunk of his fortune and yet remains untouched by the wealth amassed.

With Vishwaas, the channel hopes revive the afternoon soap Gharana's magic. Besides Vijendra Ghatge, the show also stars Anang Desai, Abha Ranjan, Vineet Sharma, Ritu Kambo, Harsh Visisth, Gautam Chaturvedi, Ujjwal Rana, Usha Bachchani and Nilofer Khan.

Prachi Shah in 'Urja'

Besides this show based on moral values, the channel has some more salve for the soul lined up too. With its Kanhaiyaa still embroiled in a legal tangle, the channel is replacing it with Urja, which is conceptualised by Acharya Goenka of the Dhammagiri Vipasana. The show, which has been in the pipeline for some time now, will be making its debut on Zee this Sunday 1 June at 9 am, filling the slot left by empty by Kanhaiyaa.

Through the show, Acharya will enlighten viewers on the concept of meditation, demonstrating the techniques of 'Vipassana' meditation. All in all offering some curry for soul. Television actor Prachi Shah will host the show. The show will feature actors some guests like Shweta Kawatra and Poonam Dhillon.
