Aaj Tak claims to have broken the news of Sharma dowry case hours before any other channel.

According to a press release, Aaj Tak got wind of the happening as soon as a case was filed by Sharma's family and the Aaj Tak crew was at the groom's house in the wee hours of the morning when he was arrested by the police along with other family members.

The release adds that Aaj Tak unravelled the drama of the arrest and also showed the viewers the video footage of the wedding, which clearly showed the happening in its true light. The coverage not only provided the viewers with the true picture of whatever transpired, but also raised the issue of a social anomaly that still affects our country.

The public feelings against such anomalies was effectively demonstrated by the channel which threw open the phone-lines for the viewers for comments and opinions. According to the release, thousands of messages received from the viewers were aired on the channel to demonstrate the public wrath against such misdemeanour and to give them a chance to air their views.
