80 channels permitted to uplink from India, says Rajya Sabha

MUMBAI: In a recent Rajya Sabha session, the information and broadcasting ministry responded to a query about the uplinking issue by stating that there in total 80 channels that were permitted to uplink from Indian shores.

Among the companies permitted to uplink are TV Today Network, Sun TV, Jain Studios, STV Enterprises, Zee Telefilms, Sahara Sanchar and New Delhi Television

However the issues about NDTV group's second channel NDTV World, Independent News Services' India TV, Star News Broadcasting's Star News and BBC uplinking from India is still in process of being considered.
