CNBC to premiere 'The Auto Show' on 10 June

MUMBAI: CNBC goes vroom vroom, this time with consumer angle in mind. Starting today, 10 June at 10:30 pm, the business channel will be getting behind the wheel with The Auto Show.

With navigator and Indian Rally circuit veteran - Renuka Kriplani as anchor, the show claims to be not just about fast cars but about the business of buying, making and selling cars.

While CNBC in the past have always focused on the automobiles sector with regular editorial coverage and initiatives such as the CNBC Autocar Auto Awards, this is the first time that the channel will be dedicating an entire half an hour weekly slot to the automobile business.

The Auto Show will not focus on the glamour of automobiles but will offer an in-depth analysis cover the areas of car loans, insurance, auto ancillaries, components, auto maintenance, according to a company release.

Presented by BPCL, The Auto Show is produced by Miranda Taid. Besides Kriplani, auto enthusiasts Rahul Guha and Robin Ghosh will be anchoring various segments. Also since magazine Autocar India partners the show, editor Hormazd Sorabjee will host a special interactive segment where he will assist viewers on a gamut of auto related issues by providing expert advice and customer guidance. Viewers can call in and post their queries to Sorabjee, which will be addressed in the course of the episodes.

CNBC India CEO Haresh Chawla was quoted in the release as saying: Our commitment to the sector and numerous viewer requests have encouraged us to add a regular automobiles show to our bouquet of feature shows."

The show airs Tuesdays at 10:30 pm with repeat episodes on Saturdays at 12 pm and Sundays at 10 pm.
