LONDON: News Corp technology arm NDS Group said on Tuesday a United States district court judge has dismissed most of a lawsuit filed last September by satellite television company DirecTV.

The court dismissed in its entirety claims brought by DIRECTV alleging fraud, breach of warranty and violation of the Federal Communications Act, an NDS release says. The Court also dismissed the bulk of five other DirecTV claims, including those for breach of contract, breach of fiduciary duty, breach of the covenant of good faith and fair dealing, and statutory violations, the release adds.

DirecTV, a unit of Hughes Electronics Corp, filed its lawsuit alleging breach of contract, fraud and misappropriation of trade secrets. That claim is still outstanding. NDS has countersued DirecTV for misappropriation of trade secrets. NDS claims that DirecTV and a chip manufacturer conspired to create a knock-off of NDS's latest generation smart card for DirecTV.
