TAIPEI: ESPN Star Sports has just launched its dedicated Taiwan website, ESPNSTAR.com.tw, to directly provide sports news and information and build an interactive community for sports fans in Taiwan.

This is the third ESS website. The first was the regional site ESPNSTAR.com and the second was ESPNSTAR.com.cn which is in simplified Chinese and is dedicated to servicing the information needs of sports fans in China, an official release says. The Taiwan site is completely in traditional Chinese.

ESS is also hoping that advertisers will come on board by incorporating their on-air campaigns with an on-line component.

Besides covering sports, ESPNSTAR.com.tw will also feature ESPN and Star Sports presenters hosting their own chat rooms. Professional sports experts will also host discussion groups and the possilibity of webcasting of some live games are also in the pipeline, the release says.

ESPNSTAR.com.tw will also encourage the creation of a virtual community through a two-pronged membership process - one for viewers and another for clients.
