CBS'
15 awards was the highest tally at the 29th Annual Daytime
Emmy Awards last weekend, including those for the outstanding
lead actor (Peter Bergman, The Young and The Restless),
actress (Susan Flannery, The Bold and The Beautifu')
as well as outstanding drama series (The Young and The
Restless).
ABC followed with a tally of 12 awards. Sesame Street
won the Outstanding Pre-school children's series at
the 29th Annual Daytime Emmy Awards last weekend, helping
PBS notch up a total of 11 awards. Bob Barker hosted the
show that also included a tribute to CBS' Guiding Light,
which celebrated its 50th Anniversary this year.
The
Daytime Emmy Awards were presented for performances and
programmes in 18 categories, including a Lifetime Achievement
Award, which was given to John Cannon, former president
of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
The Daytime Emmys are a presentation of The National Academy
for Television Arts and Sciences and with The Academy of
Television Arts & Sciences.
The
Daytime Emmy Awards are presented to daytime television
programs broadcast between 2 am and 6 pm. The eligibility
period for all awards was 1 January, 2001 through 31 December,
2001.
Disney Channel's Madeline won the Outstanding Children's
Animated Program, while Bob Barker, the host of CBS' The
Price is Right won as the Outstanding Game Show Host.
Rosie O'Donnell was adjudged Outstanding Talk Show Host
for the show which was also awarded the Outstanding Talk
Show of the Year. CBS' As the World Turns was judged
the Outstanding Drama Series at the Daytime Emmys.
Crystal Chappell won the Outstanding Supporting Actress
In A Drama Series for her role in CBS' Guiding Light,
and Joshi Duhamel won the Outstanding Supporting Actor In
A Drama Series for ABC's All My Children. Jennifer
Finnigan bagged the award for Outstanding Younger Actress
In A Drama Series for CBS' The Bold and The Beautiful',
while ABC's One Life to Live' was adjudged Outstanding
Drama Series of the year. Jeopardy!' won the Outstanding
Game/Audience Participation Show and Showtime's My Louisiana
Sky bagged the Outstanding Children's Special.
