BANGALORE: The Star Network’s Malayalam offering, Asianet, will be broadcasting the ‘Ujala- Asianet Film Awards 2012 next weekend on January 21 and 22 at the 6.30 pm slot.

The Asianet Film Awards honours performances in Malayalam cinema. The 14th edition of the film awards was held on 6 January this year at Dubai.

The other sponsors include realty group Confident and Muthoot Finance.

 
  

Asianet claims that over 25000 people attended the awards at which Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan was presented the Millennium Award. Mollywood superstars Mohan Lal and Mammootty also honoured Shah Rukh Khan for his outstanding contributions to the Indian film industry.

Malayalam actor Mammootty was honoured as the Cultural Icon of Kerala for his outstanding performance in various fields. Mohan Lal won the best actor award for his role in 'Pranayam’ and Kavya Madhavan for the best female actress for her performance in the films ' Gadhama’ and ‘Bhakthajanangalude Sradakku.'

 
 
 
 
The Malayalam movie 'Pranayam‘ was adjudged the best film, while Malayalam film directors Blessy and Ranjith won the award for the best director for 'Indian Rupee’.
