MUMBAI:
Bollywood stars Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt will be combining
for the first time in a television show as they co-host Hindi
general entertainment channel Colors' biggest reality property.
Dutt,
known for his macho image in Bollywood, will be making his
first appearance on the small screen as a host. Bigg Boss,
dominated so far by a single personality, will also have two
anchors for the first time.
Colors
aims to extract more revenues from the fifth edition of Bigg
Boss. Says Colors CEO Raj Nayak, "Bigg Boss is one of
our flagship shows, which has been successfully running on
the channel over the last three seasons. It's a unique format
that provides brands an exciting and innovative platform,
spread over more than three months. This year with two of
Bollywoods biggest superstars, Salman Khan and Sanjay Dutt,
as hosts we're confident of making Bigg Boss even bigger and
generating both - higher revenues as well as stickier eye-balls."
Bigg
Boss Season 4, which was hosted by Salman Khan, was viewed
by over 90 million viewers from across the country and the
finale episode had generated a TVR of 6.7. For Season 3, the
channel had roped in Amitabh Bachchan, while in the first
second season (first on Colors) Shilpa Shetty was the host.
Bigg
Boss is a combination of reality and unscripted drama. The
format sees 14 handpicked strangers locked in a house, for
close to 96 days - with over 50 cameras following their every
move 24x7. Bigg Boss, the ultimate authority in the house,
ensures that their stay is anything but comfortable. As the
14 hand-picked contestants vie with each other to survive
in the Bigg Boss house, irritation, backbiting and backstabbing
reach its prime. This is one show that brings out the best
and the worst side of contestants.
