| MUMBAI:
The Income-Tax department could end up with a Rs 4 billion catch from the third
edition of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL).
The
TDS (tax deducted at source) has been accumulated by the I-T officials from the
remuneration paid to players, coaches, commentators, umpires and from payment
of overseas publicity rights. "The
TDS collections from the third edition of the IPL are cruising towards the Rs
4 billion-mark. The department is finalising the collections from across the country,"
PTI said, quoting a top I-T officer. The
department, which is investigating into the financial irregularities of the league,
is yet to put a final figure on the TDS collections. They are collecting information
from several of their offices across the country where the IPL franchises are
registered. |
