MUMBAI: The Bombay High Court has directed that Union of India and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar be made parties to a PIL filed by Shiv Sena party member Subhash Desai regarding levy of entertainment tax on the Indian Premier League (IPL).

The next hearing takes place on 22 June.

The court also allowed the petitioner to make Pawar a party to the case since there are some allegations against him in the petition.

The PIL demands that Maharashtra government should recover entertainment tax from the organisers of IPL.

The petition alleges that the state government in January this year decided to levy the entertainment tax on IPL but the decision was not implemented.
