MUMBAI: The Malayalam entertainment channel Amrita TV is set to launch Kathayalla, Ithu Jeevitham (Not a Story, But Raw Life), a TV courtroom in which the channel will showcase real life disputes and genuine conflicts arising in a family frame work. Through the show, the channel is intending to mediate and settle the issues with taking all the parties in consideration.

The show is slated to launched on 29 May and will be telecast every Saturday and Sunday from 6.30 to 7.30 pm.

Amrita TV has roped in Vidhubala, the yesteryear actress who bid farewell at the height of her career, to anchor/moderate the show.

The show will provide legal counseling, and the final solution will be legitimised by the Kerala Legal Services Authority (Kelsa) seal.

Kathayalla, Ithu Jeevitham is a first of its kind show in the Malayalam channels. In Hindi general entertainment channels, Star Plus has aired a similar show Aap Ki Kachehri, wherein Kiran Bedi hosted two season of the show.

Kathayalla, Ithu Jeevitham brings under its preview all the problems that sows the seeds of strife in a family: marital disharmony, dowry harassments, divorce cases, fraud, treachery, cheating, ownership disputes, gender discrimination, workplace victimization, paternity suits, cruelty, the problems of old age.

“A seal of Kelsa will legitimize it to the extent of making it equivalent to a court order; the agreement becomes final, binding and irrevocable, not only legally binding on all the disputants and cannot be challenged in any court of law,” the channel said in a statement.

As a CSR initiative, Amrita TV has invited companies to come forward as a Philanthropy Partner and sponsor Rs 5,000 per case, as ‘Prathyasa Nidhi’ or Gift of Hope for every case that is settled during the course of the program.

Amrita TV has joined hands with socio-legal bodies and NGO for the show. The programme facilitates a clearing up of the misunderstandings between the contestants in public in a bid to arrive at a mutually acceptable agreement that heals the breach and brings about reconciliation. "Katha Alla Ithu Jeevitham" is an out-of-court settlement forum where resolution of conflicts is sought through dialogue & discussion in a spirit of harmony and empathy.
