Turner Broadcasting appoints Michael Carrington as chief content officer

MUMBAI: Turner Broadcasting has roped in Michael Carrington, currently controller - Cbeebies, as chief content officer (CCO) for Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

Carrington will step down from his post at the BBC on 26 February and will join Turner on 6 April.

In his new capacity, Carrington will be responsible for the development and creation of all original series, co-productions and acquisitions for Turner Broadcasting's children's channels within the UK and EMEA.

He joined the BBC in 2004 as head of acquisitions and animation for BBC Children's. In 2006, he took over as controller of CBeebies where he was responsible for all commissioning, during which period he commissioned successful programmes like Charlie and Lola, In the Night Garden and Big & Small.

Tina McCann has been serving as CCO at Turner since Finn Arnesen's departure in October on an interim basis and will continue in this capacity until Carrington joins.
