Ujala-Asianet film awards 2010 announced

MUMBAI:The 2010 Ujala-Asianet awards have been announced.

Pazhassiraja produced Gokulam Gopalan and directed by Hariharan has won the best film award while Ranjith has bagged as the best director for Pallerimanikyam.

Mammootty has been selected as the millennium actor for his memorable performances in several films. Mohanlal has won the best actor award for his performances in films like Bhramaram and Ividam Swargamanul while Kavya Madhavan has won the best actress award for her role in the film Banaras.

While Prithwi Raj has been selected as the Youth Icon of the year, Lakshmi Rai has been selected as the popular actress and wins this award for her performances.

The best character actor award has been won by Sreenivasan for his roles in Passenger and Makante Achan while Swetha Menon has won the award for the actress in this category for Pallermanikyam.

The performance of Lalu Alex in Ividam Swargamanu has won him the best villain award while Jagadeesh has been selected as the best comedian for his performance in 2 Harihar Nagar.
Ranjith Shankar who wrote the script for Passenger has won the award for best scriptwriter. Vayalar Sarath has bagged the award for the best lyricist for the film Neelathamara.

The best music director award has been won by Deepak Dev for the film Puthiyamugham. Shankar Mahadevan has been selected as the best male singer for Puthiyamugham while K.S. Chithra has won the best female singer award for Pazhassiraja. Niveditha has won the best child artiste award for his roles in Bhramaram and Kanakankuyil.

The award for the best cinematographer goes to Ajayan Vincent ( Bhramaram). Vijay Shankar who edited Bhramaram has bagged the best editor award while Jayasurya and Bhama ( Ivar Vivahitharayal) have been selected as the best star pair of the year. Actor Nishan ( Ritu) and actress Archana Kavi ( Neelathamara) have won the awards for debut artists.

In recognition of his overall contribution to the Indian Film industry, acclaimed sound designer and Oscar award winner Resool Pukutty won the special Award.

P.V.Gangadharan has been selected for the life-time achievement award.
