MUMBAI: It has been a decade but it does not seem too long back to me that I inaugurated www.indiantelevision.com.

The last decade has witnessed the rise of the Indian media and entertainment industry. At stages, the industry has outperformed the Indian economy and is without doubt amongst the fastest growing sectors.

The industry has also garnered a remarkable share in the Asian media and entertainment pie. The industry remains the largest producer of films, though it has to go through some structural changes to become a significant player in the world.

In the context of the Indian media and entertainment industry, the filmed entertainment and television segment dominates the industry followed by print, radio and music. This website is not merely a source of information; it is also a platform for industry's decision makers to put forward their opinions and views regarding critical issues that face our industry.

In the past decade another property achieved by this website has been the awards for recognising quality work and appreciating talent. The fact that digital media is the next big thing in the Indian media space is now common knowledge. By calendar year 2013 the Indian animation industry's growth is estimated to stand strong at $811.2 million. It will be interesting to see how Indiantelevision.com participates in this growth.

An initiative which can be taken up is to organise a summit or forum for the student community. Students who are the leaders of tomorrow will definitely be benefited by an event dedicated to enhancing their knowledge about our industry. In addition, their views and opinions will also enlighten us to what the young India dreams of and wants.

I wish the entire team at Indiantelevision the very best for the future.
