MUMBAI: Colors is set to launch its afternoon band on 15 February, with two new daily soaps, Agnipareeksha Jeevan kiGanga and Aise Karo Naa Vidaa. The fiction properties will be aired from Monday-Friday between 1.30-2.30 pm.

Indiantelevision.com had earlier reported that the channel has named the band as "Saanjhi Dopahar" and would initially launch with two half-hour shows.

Produced by BAG Films and Media in association with Crash Test Pictures, Agnipareeksha Jeevan ki… Ganga will be aired at 1.30 pm while Aise Karo Naa Vidaa, produced by DJ's Creative Unit, will occupy the 2 pm slot.

Colors programming head Ashvini Yardi tells Indiantelevision.com, "We have found that viewership during 1.30-2.30 pm is maximum and thus, have decided place our shows during this time band,"

The content offering on the afternoon shows will, however, be slightly different from that of the primetime as it is predominantly targeted towards 25+ women.

"These shows will have slightly different treatment from our primetime shows as the target audience are housewives. We have taken a bit progressive and bold approach in these shows," adds Yardi.

The channel, which at present airs repeats of its popular fiction shows during the band, will expand its afternoon slot with more original shows in the coming weeks. "We will add more shows soon. And the repeats will be shifted to other time," adds Yardi.

Among the two shows, Agnipareeksha Jeevan Ki...Ganga is the tale of a young girl Ganga who hails from Sunder Nagar, a town on the banks of the holy Ganges, in eastern Uttar Pradesh, steeped in age old traditions and values. Ganga who is a pretty, obedient daughter and a talented singer, instead of being worshiped like her namesake river, is ostracized by her stepmother and the society. They prefer to keep their distance from Ganga as they believe that she is cursed because of some white marks on her skin. Ganga, the protagonist is being played by Jayashree Soni while Sejal Shah, Jai Pathak and VM Badola will be seen in supporting roles.

Aise Karo Naa Vidaa is story of a young and vivacious girl Reva who hails from a small kasba of Bundelkhand. Reva's laughter is infectious and her impulsive and open nature attracts attention from the young prince of the Raj Mahal. While Reva is preparing for her wedding, Prince Randheer who is smitten by Reva, finding her alone, physically molests her. Although the villagers stand firm by her and demand justice from the royal family by punishing the miscreant, Reva is completely shattered. The protagonist Reva is being portrayed by Aastha Chaudhary while accompanying her are actors such as Jaya Bhattacharya, Lalit Parimo , Kishori Shahane, Rohit Porohit and Anas Rashid Khan.
