MUMBAI: The Information and Broadcasting Ministry has pulled up MTV and UTV Bindass for telecasting indecent content in their shows Splitsvilla3 and Emotional Atyachar.

The I&B Ministry has issued show-cause notices to the two channels for alleged vulgarity and denigration of women.

In the show cause to MTV, the I&B Ministry finds the format of the programme highly objectionable as individuals indulge in all kinds of tricks to remain in the game including backbiting and cheating.

“The show contains visuals which appear to be obscene and vulgar. The programme also denigrates women by depicting them in a bad light. The show is not suitable for children and for unrestricted public exhibition,” the notice says.

Emotional Attyachar unravels the theme of fedility through sting cameras. The I&B Ministry finds the visuals not suitable for children and for unrestricted public exhibition.

Both the channels have been charged for violating the Programme Code prescribed under Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Act, 1995. They have been asked to explain why action should not be taken against them for violating the provisions of the Uplinking Guidelines.

In the past, the I&B Ministry had warned MTV for Splitsvilla and asked it to run an apology scroll for three days.
