I begin my day with

I am up by about seven in the morning. After which, I help my wife in getting both my kids ready for school. After sending them off to school, I leave for office at about 8.30 am. So, there's very little time for exercise. Sometime back I used to pursue my morning walks. It was very convenient as I used to walk in the compound of my building [Shashtrinagar in Lokhandwala] that has sufficient space to walk around. It was very invigorating and also helped me be mentally agile.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to keep up with the regime as getting up early has become an ordeal.
However, I intend to get back to it as soon as possible. I really don't feel the need to go to a gym.

My diet mantra
I am a foodie and hate to diet. Lately, I have started putting on weight. So, I am trying to eat sensibly. I have fruits for breakfast and normal Indian meal of roti, dal, sabzi, chawal for lunch and dinner. One thing I cannot resist is sweets. However my wife, who has adopted a healthier lifestyle is now encouraging me to control my sweet tooth. I tend to overeat or eat junk food over weekends, but then I try to balance it out by having salads or a light meal over weekdays. I am a social drinker and I don't smoke.

Shopping and holidays

Shopping is a weekend activity along with my family. Most of the time, my wife shops for me. I am not at all brand conscious but I like to wear what looks and fits well. Kurta Pyjama is one dress I don't like to wear. At home I prefer to wear either tracks or shorts with a t-shirt.
Besides, work related travel, I do make it a point to travel in India at least once or twice a year with the family. We have seen parts of South India but not yet been to North India. I love beaches and often go to Goa.
Gadgets and Gizmos
I drive the Maruti Baleno. When I was young I had a fascination for the Mercedes Benz. But now my loyalty has changed. I love the look of the BMW and it's my dream to possess one some day. I like to update my cellphone depending on my needs.

My idea of entertainment
I love to listen to music, read and watch movies. For good music i just tune in to the FM radio. Over the weekends, I prefer to watch movies along with my family mostly at a multiplex. Reading helps one to grow as well escape from the humdrum. Not just me, even my wife and kids love to read at night before going to sleep. We spend a lot on books and have a good library at home.

Books
I read anything and everything that is recommended to me. Sometimes, it's the content that is appealing and so I read it irrespective of the author.

James Hadley Chase and Sidney Sheldon were my favourite while in college. But the three books that have left an impact on me are How to win friends and influence people by Dale Carnegie, Who moved my cheese by Dr Spencer Johnson and The Monk who sold his Ferrari by Robin Sharma.
My stress buster
I love spending time with myself. I feel, one needs to take stock of life, analyse various things and understand people we meet in our day-to-day life. One needs to introspect and understand the influences and implications of events. For this, one needs to be with oneself. Besides that, I also like to visualise pleasant things and dream about what I would like to be and like to achieve. I have read about the power of positive thinking and I try to implement it during the course of the day.
