Cannes: The focus of the Indian contingent at the 60th Cannes
Film Festival is understandably on the Tous les cinemas du
monde (All the Cinemas of the World) section, which will screen
seven films from the worlds largest film-producing nation
over two days May 19 and 20.
The
man who handpicked them, Serge Sobczynski, head of Tous les
cinemas du monde, is obviously keen to see how his selection
is received at the festival. He watched as many as 108 films,
57 of them at the last International Film Festival of
India in Goa, before picking eight films. One
of them had to be left out at the last minute because its
producer did not want his film to be screened in a festival
before its commercial release in India, says Sobczynski.
