CANNES:
It's another Indian themed movie selected for the Cinefoundation
competition at the Cannes Film Festival. Directed by India-born,
France based, Swiss student Mickhel Kummer, Aditi Singh is
based on a relationship between a man and woman who are in government
jobs. The relationship is shown threw the reading of letters
between the two.

Kummer,
a 28-year-old director who was born in India, says the fact
that his formative years were spent in India has resulted
in his constantly filming Indian subjects. "The images
I saw even as child have left a deep impression on me,"
he says. "And they keep coming back to me."
For
his female lead he opted for TV actress (Shagun fame) and
model Vanita Vasa, who says it was a delight to be in the
film. Shot over four days, in Mumbai on a 16 mm film, Aditi
Singh was then upgraded to 35 mm thanks to Adlabs. And
then edited in France. "The shooting took place in Mumbai,
in Mumbai University, Princess Street and in trains,"
says Vasa. "We had to film almost everything in one take."

"People
tell me there's a touch of Bollywood in the film," says
Kummer. "The French tell me the film is French."
Hopefully
that healthy combination will work in his favour and get him
the prize.
