CGI Mantra aims to expand market, talent base

Last week, we told you about the new animation studio coming up in Mumbai, here's some more dope on it.

What's in a name? said Shakespeare. Going by the number of calls we've received asking for the new studio's name and other details, we beg to differ.

The new studio opening up in Andheri (East) Mumbai is CGI Mantra.

A new entrant (especially a well backed one) always causes a lot of activity and speculation in the market. An idea of the backing that CGI Mantra has, can be had from its association with Kerala based Dimensions India which is an IT company with varied interests which include a successful BPO operation with a six hundred strong workforce in Navi Mumbai.

In a bid to put all doubts and anxiety to rest, Mumbai chief for CGI Mantra Vinit Karnik once again conveyed to Animation 'xpress that, "We are not here to spoil the market nor do we like the idea of causing churn, initially there may be some churn but we very soon plan to groom our own talent. We shall try and effectively channelize the strengths of our people and bring the best out of them"

Continuing, Karnik said, "Though we shall be taking on outsourcing assignments, we also plan to create our own content and will look to co produce. We want to expand the market and our long term goal is to be a complete animation service provider, providing all the services which are part of the animation process (pre production, production & post production).
