      Asifa India announces activities around International animation day  
     

 

MUMBAI: ASIFA India president Bill Dennis has announced the preliminary schedule for the upcoming International Animation Day, to be celebrated on October 28, 2004.

A press release by ASIFA states that "ASIFA India will team with TASI (The Animation Society of India) in presenting the agenda."

Amongst the highlights of the celebrations is the screening of ten films from Indian artists including independent/studio shorts, student films and ad films.

Commenting on the screenings Dennis says, "Scores of entries (amounting to 150 minutes) were viewed by us after which we shortlisted the final few. These were shown to international jury from ASIFA - San Fransisco at the Coppola Theatre, San Fransisco on 18 July who finally selected the ten entries to be screened."

"After the screening, the winner will be announced and awarded with the first-ever Award of Excellence. The award Will be presented annually to honor an individual who has nurtured and advanced the art form of animation through outstandingcontributions in the creative and technical arenas." added Dennis.

The ten final animated shorts to be screened are :-
Independent/studioshorts

- Raju and I,
- Shadow of Light

Students

- Drum
- Ganesha
- Hand and Arrow

ads films/PSAs
- Jumbo Coil
- All Out Liquid
- POGA
- Bazee.

A question/answer press conference with leaders from major studios around India and representatives of ASIFA-India and TASI is also part of the agenda.
